All's well here in isolation, sold sidecar 2 years ago as I was not travelling well on long distances on it, no bikes at all, just living in retirement hoping old friends will still drop in on trips for a coffee and chat.

20 August update
Ray Goss says my blog needs watering, so here is a bit of an update.
All visitors have left for the OCR at Cape York, the pudding has been picked up & taken to the border run & onto the OCR by Dirty Dennis.
Watched the pudding & Mr Cob's progress on the net via there Spot Trackers, something new for me.
Missed the border run myself, run out of money again after 2 trips to Bendigo this year & the modifications to my final drive & tail shaft took all my spare cash this year.
Joe & Ed visited on the border weekend, flew in from Canberra via Joe's plane, stayed 2 nights then they flew home via Tibbaburra, the dig tree & Hungerford.
Next run will be to Wynbring water hole on the labour weekend then rest over the hot months till April or June next year. Thats all for now, cut Ya tracks later.

Been a bit quite over Xmas and new year, in process of modifying the final drive to a large taper roller bearing in place of the large ball bearing.
Also fitting a K1100 tail shaft to the K100 swing arm for better spline wear.
A 40mm spacer is fitted between the swing arm and final drive and the top shock mount moved back as well, 40mm.
Will go up to a 185/80-15 rear tyre when done.
Will then be running the following sizes:
Front 135/80-R15
Rear 185/80-R15
Side car 125/80-R15
Should all be done in time for the next run in March to Lake Gardiner salt Lake Racers.

November Update 2011
Just done the ADV October run to Pooncarie NSW, left Gladstone 8am Friday for a staight tar run via Mildura, last time I went from Mildura to Pooncarie was in April 1978, it was all dirt then, now it is sealed & a piece of piss.
About 30-40 at the hotel on Friday night.
Camped down at the river with Greg Doubleday from Bendigo.
We both stayed there on Saturday with a meal at the pub that night.
Returned home via Minindee, Loch Lily station, Quondong Vale station & due west to
Terowie then the tar to home.
Camped west of Quondong Vale station on Sunday night, home in Gladstone 1030am Monday.
McArdell blew a final drive again, he really needs to learn how to handle machinery.
Picture shows him do a little bit of roadside maintenance at the pub.
My bike handled the best it has in years, I now have 20mm front wheel trail, 290mm side car wheel lead, 20mm of toe in & 25mm of lean out.
Running Firestone 135R15 on the front wheel, Firestone 125R15 on the side car and will go up from 165/80R15 to a 185/80R15 on the rear shortly.
Thats all for now.
August update
Just an update, I was unable to attend the Border Run this year for varies reasons.

Snayle & Clancy dropped in for me to replace Clancy's broken exhaust system on the Tuesday, then Doubleday & Slab arrived from Bendigo heading for the Border on the Wednesday.
On the way back had a visit from Chicka, Bill, Doubleday & Slab on the Monday night.
Will try and make the NSW side car rally in September.

Have added 2 shots of Rimmer, first as I received him all skin and bones.
Now 6 months old, desexed, vaccinated & fattened up.
Not as lively as Smeg, but still a lively pup.
Does not talk as much as Smeg, but can dig tunnels under the fence.
Need to lock him in the shed while I am at darts each night.
Bike is all ready for the next trip to the Salt Lake speed trials in March.

New Years Eve 2010/11
At 1030 this morning while visiting friends at Port Germain, Smeghead my 21 month old traveling companion was run over by a car. I rushed him back to Port Pirie vet Clinic, Both rear legs were broken, one had a badly smashed paw that would have needed amputating.
So we had him put down.
RIP Smeghead March 2009 to December 2010
Late report of September/October trip
A bit late, but had a lot on my mind lately.
Left to travel to the NSW side car rally via dirt to Broken Hill then onto Menindie and the road to Ivanhoe.
Followed the railway to Mt Hope, took the wrong road, used the one shown on my map south of the railway and got hopelessly bogged in the mud 30 K from Mt hope. Camped the night and got going again by 9pm on the Saturday. Arrived at the rally site late Saturday & picked up the trophy for Longest Distance Side Car & also one for the most Interesting Side car as well.
Then on up to Wingam to visit an old mate I went to Epping Boys High with.
Then on to Brisbane to visit Dan (Dagger) Freakly for a day or two then back home via Goondwindi, Bourke and Cobar.

Update 30 May 2010
Well being a bit quite here lately, have fitted the camping swag/tent to the side car (photo in the banner above) had to modify the pivot points to allow the fitting of a gas strut to hold the camper up high enough to facilitate the entry to the Engel fridge I have installed in the chair. Have also fitted a second battery and an electronic relay between both batteries to look after the charging. Since I now run a 12 volt to 240 volt inverter to run the Engel (cheaper then repairing the inverter in the Engel) I have rigged up a 240 volt camp light. As an electrician with 55 years knowledge, it will be quite safe. Will give the unit a test run to the Wintersun Rally in Mildura in a couple of weeks.
Happy 60 th Chris McArdell (in June)
By for now.
