November update

Time for an update, not being happy with my old motor in chair, I have lashed out and bought K1100LT-SE with 94.000 klm & fitted this to my chair. Moved the chair 2 inches forward & built a camping swag to carry on the chair. In the photos I remove the seat for to carry the swag on trips.
Will be using it for the trip to Russ's book launch & visit to friends in Melbourne, Merimbula, Bega, Canberra, Sydney & the Blue Mountains.
Will be traveling with "Smeghead"

2009 Border Run update

26 July; Beetle, McArdell & others have arrived, McArdell with a slipping clutch. 10 for tea at the pub.
Monday, remove McArdell's rear end & gear box, new clutch plate & push rod oil seal arrive by bus & Port Pirie 730 pm, Beetle leaves for Fowlers Bay, Vince, Russ & Kathy arrive 12 for tea & the pub.

Tuesday, McArdell's bike is rebuilt, some of us do a museum run to Kadina & Wallaroo by car. 10 for a McArdell cooked tea at home, silver side, sauce & veggie's.

Wednesday, all leave for Border Run, first stop Pt Augusta for a side car tyre for Vince, a 460 x 17 road tyre. Cowell caravan park for the night, booked in to a cabin then told NO DOGS ALLOWED ON SITE, so Vince & I & Smeghead leave and book into the Jade Motel, dog allowed into room, no problem.

Thursday, all leave by separate ways, Vince & I to Elliston caravan park for the night, the rest to Streaky Bay.

Friday, all together again at Penong Hotel, full house pub & caravan park, new cook, not as good as 3 years ago, dog allowed into hotel room, good nights party by all.
Vince inspects side car tyre fitted at Pt Augusta, at 780 klms, it is as bald as Vince s forehead. After many phone calls Graham Jones brings him a used knobby from Ceduna, and 3 tyres ( one for Slab & 2 for Vince) are sent from Pt Augusta to the Border by truck.

Saturday, arrive Border Village Hotel, over 150 bikes are counted in rooms & camped across the road. Pick up tyres, no known brake downs recorded, McArdell still has a slipping clutch.

Sunday, Vince & I head back to Wudinna caravan park for the night, top class meal, basic van for accommodation

Monday, back to Pt Augusta where Vince fits a new tyre to the rear & the side car, the knobby has lasted with no applicable wear. Onto home at Gladstone.

Tuesday, Vince leaves for Sydney & I await the arrival of Russ, Kathy & Slab for the night.

Border Run 2009

Sunday 1 pm 26 July, waiting for people to arrive, rear deck has a roof over & all is ready.
So far, Vince left Sydney Saturday AM via outfit.
Russell's Yamaha has failed to proceed out of Albury, NSW, binding rear brake, funny rattle in motor & the lights fail to work, is proceeding via the Suzuki, expect him here Monday night the same as Vince.
Phone call from McArdell at 1030 this morning, he is in Clare with a slipping clutch, hoping to replace this arvo at my place @ Gladstone, I have 3 on the shelf for him to pick from.
My outfit is ready to go if Vince does not arrive, I have not road tested it yet but here's hoping all is well.

July 10 2009 update

Time to update my banner on this site as I have sold the MZ.
New dog 'Smeghead' is coming along well, house trained and chewing everything in site. Looking forward to the Border Run in August, will be traveling in Vince's side car with the dog for company. Possible stops will be Cowel, Coffin Bay, Penong on Friday night, will talk it over with Vince when he arrives in Gladstone.
I hope the rain stops by then otherwise it will be a wet trip.

One dog gone and anouther arrives

Redone Sunday 24 May 2009 , Sally had to go to the farm to chase sheep and chooks, so now I have a Fox Terrier cross Jack Russell,10 weeks old, brindle in colour, male, called "Smeghead" as soon as it stops moving around I will take a photo for all to see & post.

Every one meet Sally, a 2 year old Border Collie X bitch, a little bit bigger then Buster, and quite hyper active at the moment, soon to travel by side car throughout Australia.

RIP Buster 1997-2009

Today Thursday 16 April 2009 at 3.15 pm, Buster has gone to that big kennel in the sky.
Has traveled to the following runs in my K100 side car:
Karuah River Rally
2 OCR's; Innamincka & Urandangi
6 Border Runs
3 trips to Tibooburra
Far Cairn Rally
1 Victorian BMW club rally
3 BMWOCSA Rallys
6 Victorian side car Rallys
Numerous SA rallys & runs.
Over 10 years has probably done about 100,000 klms by side car around the back blocks of Australia.
Will be missed by all.
